FEMA Financial Assistance
Federal Emergency Management Agency announced federal sister assistance is available to the state of California to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by wildfires from January 7 and continuing. Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance by registering online, calling 1-800-621-3362 or by using the FEMA app.
Additional Living Expenses with Insurer
Four Months of ALE Coverage in Advance. For policyholders who suffered a covered total loss arising from the L.A. wildfires, insurers are required to provide an advance payment of no less than four months of living expenses on request. Policyholders can also seek subsequent ALE payments by submitting proof of additional living expenses after the advance period.
SBA's Low-Interest Disaster Loans
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers low-interest disaster loans to help homeowners, renters, and businesses of all sizes recover from declared disasters. These loans can cover costs like repairing or replacing damaged property and providing other financial relief not covered by insurance.
